Sierra de Grazalema

A weekend trip to the beautiful mountains of the Sierra de Grazalema to escape the heat in Cadiz. It was still quite warm in the mountains too, but probably a bit less than on the coast. Lots of flowers and birds, lots of cyclists on the road, but only a few other hikers in the mountains.

Villaluenga, a beautiful and quiet village where I had rented a small apartment.

Lots of flowers everywhere

Beautiful old cork oaks

In addition to meeting lots of goats, cows and the occasional pig, I also encountered a few wild mountain goats.

An evening walk up in the mountains. During the day it was quite hot, but the temperature in the evening was perfect for hiking.

Benaocaz, another beautiful white village in the mountains; a good starting point for hiking.

Calzada Romana, a Roman road, between Benaocaz to Ubrique, with Ubrique in the distance below.
