Snowshoeing in the Dolomites: Fanes-Sennes-Braies natural park

We had a few days snowshoeing in the Dolomites in northern Italy, based from a mountain hut, de beautiful Sennes hut. It snowed for a couple of days before we got there so we had a nice thick layer of powder snow. This made snowshoeing hard work, but it left beautiful prints as you can see in some of the photos below. We were very lucky with the weather and got a good dose of sunshine and had some beautiful snowshoe treks in the mountains. We borrowed sleds to get back down the mountain, which was fast, fun and sometimes a little scary.

We zijn een paar dagen in de Dolomieten in noord Italie geweest. Hier hebben we sneeuwschoenwandelingen gemaakt vanuit de prachtige Sennes berghut. Het had flink gesneeuwd voordat we er aankwamen en we hadden dus een mooie dikke laag poedersneeuw. Dit maakte het sneeuwschoenwandelen hard werk, maar liet wel prachtige sporen achter. We hadden geluk met het weer en hebben een goede dosis zonlicht gehad en prachtige wandelingen kunnen maken. Voor de weg terug naar beneden hebben we sleedjes geleend, dus de terugweg was erg snel en leuk.
